What to do when H-1s are all gone

Date:5/16/2012 4:00PM CST
Presenter:David Brown
Please join us for a discussion about alternate visa classifications and ways to manage recruiting when no H-1s are available. This still means you can recruit individuals who are already in the U.S. in H-1 status, but it also means you need to look closer to see if any of your candidates qualify for TN, L-1, O-1, E-2, F-1 EAD, L-2 dependent or J-1 status. There are even more options depending on the type of candidate you have and David will also discuss the option of cap exempt organizations and how to claim such status if you are a private employer. At the end of this video chat you'll have a better sense of the other status options to help with your recruiting and hiring of foreign talent in a world where no new H-1s are available.

Visas, Visas, Visas

Date:6/27/2012 4:00PM CST
Presenter:David Brown
Visas, Visas, Visas – how to get them, how they work, and what administrative processing means… and how to possibly prevent it (when it is mandatory vs. discretionary). What to expect when you go through the process, and how to minimize your chances of delay, and how your passport expiry interacts with the status you receive. This program is useful for anyone who travels on a visa, or HR staff who should know how this works, and how to support their foreign born employees.

The Nuts and Bolts of I-9 processing

Date:8/22/2012 4:00PM CST
Presenter:David Brown
Admittedly not the most exciting of topics in immigration or employment law, but important nonetheless, especially in light of a record number of audits issued by the current Administration in 2011. David will discuss common I-9 errors that we see and how to avoid them, what to do if you receive an audit notification and how to limit liability in such situations. In cases where I-9s suggest undocumented worker hiring these simple one page records can create significant corporate exposure. So join us for the nuts and bolts of I-9 compliance and ask any additional questions you may have on this topic.
